A good day - lunch in the sun ...

We took a short trip to Chorlton Water Park, for lunch today.  My brother, Ben, took the photo.

Visit to school staff meeting

With a lift to school, I took Martha and Katy into school, and dropped in to the school staff meeting.  It felt so good to say hello.  There are so many in people in the room that I would love to talk with, but I left really happy to have said "hello".  I have not seen my school colleagues for months because I have been unable to walk anywhere.  All change now!!!   Karen Meenagh and David Gillon dropped in on their way home.  Great to catch up!

Visit from Barbara Wilson

I have an incredible friend, called Barbara, who came to see me today.  I am going to write another section about my friends from Sport England.  Barbara is my best friend.  We talked about my condition, and shared information about her family too.  Martha and Katy love their gifts - chocolate lolly makers.  Barbara brought us an evening meal - spinach and ricotta lasagne - and we ate every little piece of it.   Thanks Barbara.  Have a good trip to France and see you soon.

My hairy legs

During my illness, I have completely neglected my body.  I have hairy arm pits, hairy legs, bushy eyebrows - all very unpleasant.  Well, tonight, my sister Bev from Jersey has epolated my legs.  I now have clear and hairless lower limbs.  Hooray!!!   Thanks Bev :)

Martha and Katy - excellent school reports

Martha and Katy came home tonight with excellent reports from school.  Well done girls.  I am really proud of each of you.  I guess that you received good reports too.

Katy's birthday party

Katy has been getting ready for her birthday party.  She has made party bags for all her friends, and really enjoyed it.  Katy decorated a cake that I made her, yesterday.  Also, she has made a pass the parcel with my sister Bev.  Tomorrow we will play football in the park with "the boys, and Polly".  We shall then return home and some girls will show up to watch a film.  Polly is staying for a sleepover.  I am planning on resting as much as possible, so that I am well enough to go and watch in the park.  If I don't feel up to it, I shall stay at home and get ready to watch the film.

Katy wins effort trophy from Kids in2 sport

Well done Katy!  Very proud of you.

Travel Insurance is valid

I can't believe it.  I phoned my travel insurance to change my medical condition, and I have been told that my insurance is valid.  I booked my trip to Herm before my condition was diagnosed.  I can go to Herm.

I have lots of things to work out, but in principal I can go on a holiday to Herm.  It won't  be for 3 weeks, more likely 3 days, but I plan to be there for a break with Martha, Katy and Dave.

Martha and Katy will then stay on Herm with Bev, and my mum for up to 3 weeks (their return is booked for 12 August - my birthday).  I will be at home starting radiotherapy.  We will talk on Skype or facetime.

I am sooooooo pleased with this....

It is now 14 July:
My trip to Herm is not a definite.  I have talked about it with Dave and given him the choice about whether or not I do go to Herm.  If he says I can't go, I won't go.  I will be sad, but I will accept his decision.

The issues are:
  • Am I able to walk to the harbour and back?  If not, would the island help me with a lift?
  • If I become ill - which hospital provides help.  I have looked on line, and it appears that the Guernsey hospital does not have a neurology department and it would be a hospital in London.  If I become ill, I do not want to end up based in a London hospital.  I am going to ask my Guernsey friend Ali to look into this a little more.
  • Can Dave cope with looking after Martha, Katy, Grace (cousin) and me?
  • We would leave on 25th July.  I have ten more days to recover.  I am improving every day, so let's hope that I am up for it :)   ;)

Katy steals my perch

She looks good :)

steroid induced acne - a few snaps

spots across my upper chest

acne spots under my breasts.

I know these are not attractive, but they are a part of my experience.  Delighted to learn that the steroids have caused the acne.
